Our Father’s Project is a non-profit that provides mentoring and discipleship for teens in urban
Columbus. After I had joined the newly-formed board of directors, I started working on a website to
help increase support from donors and volunteers.
Choosing the audience of the website was the most important thing. I decided that the website had a
Speak to prospective donors, partners, and volunteers primarily. The website is not for the teens or
their families, but for the organization to gain more volunteers and financial support.
Establish credibility and trustworthiness through clean, professional-looking design.
Tell the story visually through the use of crisp, clear, authentic photos (not stock photos).
Encourage newsletter signups.
Make it ridiculously easy to donate.
This was my first ever responsive website design. I made quite a few mistakes in the first version
of the site, so I rebuilt the HTML and
CSS mobile-first in 2016.
I have also been managing email and print newsletters sent monthly to partners. This monthly touch has
helped contribute to a 600% increase in yearly revenue for the organization over the past 4 years.
